Position Overview
The Middle School Program Facilitator supports the academic, social-emotional, and personal growth of students in grades 6-8 through engaging instruction, relationship-building, and program implementation across HEAF Achieve and HEAF Inspire. The facilitator supports lesson delivery, program logistics, student records, family communication, field experiences, and administrative needs.
Position Details
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate lessons and adapt instruction to students' developmental and learning needs.
- Support HEAF Achieve and HEAF Inspire through lesson preparation, facilitation, classroom management, setup, student supervision, family communication, and outreach.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, confidence, and active participation.
- Build positive relationships with middle school students in one-on-one and group settings.
- Incorporate hands-on and real-world learning experiences.
- Monitor student engagement and progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Complete weekly administrative tasks using HEAF's check-in and tracking systems.
- Maintain ongoing communication with program leadership regarding student progress, curriculum implementation, and program needs.
- Chaperone students during off-site programming and educational field experiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; graduate students are encouraged to apply.
- 1-3 years of teaching or direct experience with middle school-aged youth (approximately ages 11-14).
- Experience facilitating project-based, inquiry-based, or experiential learning.
- Strong classroom management, relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient with Google Workspace.
- Ability to work collaboratively and promote HEAF's mission and educational philosophy.
- Ability and willingness to commit to the full academic-year contract term.
